When you have earned something, you do not want anyone to take that away from you, so you go to extremes to protect it. This same rule applies in technology. People have been looking for ways to stay more secure with their computers, their networks, anything that stores personal information. Passwords helped at first because it is something that you need to know in order to access places where only people that know the password can go in. But that soon became unsafe because of hackers that take advantage of holes in programs to break in. Today, biometrics is gaining more popularity because to some extent, it is more secure than just having a password that can be stolen.
